Since 2007, Nivocer: Jaap-André de Hoop and I worked closely together on WebEnq for a few years, and at the end of 2006 established Nivocer BV as a company to offer a home for the growing business.
Since 2004, drostan.org: I have worked for more than one project or organisation during almost any period, and mid 2004, decided to align my activities by starting my own freelance company, focusing on strategic use of internet in communication processes.
1997-2004, AIDEnvironment: Again starting as network administrator, but in '98 shifting to consultancy in strategic use of internet in many projects. This resulted in setting up a unit Inter-Action with Robin Pistorius, focused on web-based policy-making discussions, virtual collaboration, and knowledge management.
1999-2001, NCDO: Being the information architect in a 3-person team to set up a Dutch web portal about international cooperation and sustainable development. The project started as a pilot, launched in a new design as Doris, then merged with the existing OneWorld Europe to become OneWorld Netherlands. (read more)
1994-1999, Milieudefensie: Starting as conscientious objector, I first worked as network administrator of the Novell network with around 80 PCs at the office of Milieudefensie (Friends of the Earth The Netherlands). Focus slowly shifted to more ICT policy work within the organisation, redesigning the network, and setting up an ICT department with professional helpdesk and equipment.
1987-1992, Universiteit Twente: While studying, I worked during several years as assistent teacher at courses like "Introduction to programming". I also was a member of the PR committee of the faculty of computer science, and co-organisor of various faculty promotion days for high-school students.
Since 1997, Zhaba: Board member, currently chairman, and since 2004 also member of the facilitator pool of Zhaba, a facilitators collective for grassroot organisations and activities.
2002-2005, Ander Geld: Chairman of the board of the Stichting Ander Geld, that works on practical local alternative currency systems for social inclusion.
2002, APC: Secondary representative in the APC Council for Ace Suares Internet Consultancy.
1996-2003, EYFA: Chairman of the board of the EYFA foundation, a European network ofyouth organisations occupied with environment, development andemancipation.
1987-'88, HCC Twente: with a few others revitalised the regional group of the Dutch Hobby Computer Club (HCC) in my university town; treasurer in the board.
1986-1993, Universiteit Twente: Computer Science (informatica), degree Ir. ("ingenieur", equivalent to Master of Science). Completed with a thesis in the area of knowledge engineering, on properties of part-of relations in an ontology of ceramic materials. (read more)
