Together with Aldo de Moor, I have been developing an analytical "social context model" for online communication processes. In 2004, this resulted in the publication of a chapter "Communication Process Analysis in Virtual Communities on Sustainable Development" in the book "Environmental Online Communication", edited by Dr. Arno Scharl and published by Springer Verlag in London.
Published a bit later, our contributed chapter in the book "Information Systems for Sustainable Development", edited by Dr. Lorenz Hilty et.al., contains an earlier version of the model, applied to two authoring systems (GRASS and freeText).
At AIDEnvironment, Robin Pistorius and I wrote a vision paper in 2002 for the "Clearing-house mechanism" (CHM) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Our main point was to shift from a "knowledge-centric" to a "knower-centric" approach, to let the CHM become a capacity-building instrument in the implementation of the CBD. The report is available at the CBD-CHM website.
