Thanks for posting this Rolf, looks like it was an interesting event. Have been digging into standards myself and exploring the idea that what's happening under twitter is the potentially the most accessible, participatory public communications medium in our history.
I'd throw that into the ring as a core platform to explore with activitystrea.ms, microsyntax.org, and diso-project.org as emerging standards efforts. I've written some about what I see as the potential for societal benefit of the medium here: http://igniter.com/post436 too.
